Hello!

U.S.A. are quite big  , where are you from?

I am from Florence, I can suggest you to do this trip approaching Florence from Ancona:

You can plan to stay a night in or near Siena instead of Livorno.

I've modified the route suggested by Tigo with my contribution (I'm from Perugia-Umbria).
Please note that from Casacastalda to Valfabbrica the road is terrific! Perfect for our Miatas!
After it, you can't miss Assisi (this is my mod to the Tigo's suggestion) and then the wonderful medieval town of Perugia (leave the Miatas near the stadium and catch the Minimetro to climb the hill).
From Perugia, take the highway (direction Florence). Nearby Trasimeno Lake, leave the highway, go slowly and enjoy the landscapes. A walk and an ice-cream in Passignano are worth an hour stop.

In one day you should do (quickly) everything:
Morning --> from Ancona to Assisi for lunch
Afternoon --> Perugia
Evening --> Trasimeno Lake and then to Florence to reach an hotel (maybe you want sleep near the lake and point to florence the day after).

Hi, Basilmx-5

I'm from the "Lakes District" in the North (Lake Maggiore, near the Alps and the Lakes of Lugano and Como) fascinating places ... But too far if you have planned to go from Ancona to Barcelona staying in Italy 5-6 days.

My suggestion is to visit Tuscany (Siena, Florence)- why not through Umbria region, "The Green Heart Of Italy" (Perugia, Assisi) - then reach the Tyrrhenian Sea (Pisa) and go from Liguria region ("Cinque Terre" - Genoa) to the French Riviera .

Have a nice "Zoom-Zoom" trip! :plus1:

Check this road map from Florence to Monaco...

From Florence head to the coast, reach Pisa to admire the famous leaning tower
Then up the coast by highway or national route.
Whatever you take, make sure you "detour" on the panoramic route from La Spezia across and atop the Cinque Terre.
You may want to consider a stop in this broad area, B&Bs are many and nice.
The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Follow the coast on national road (SP1 Aurelia) very enjoyable on Miata.
You may want to check Rapallo, Santa Margherita and Portofino (beware of prices there...); the small town of Camogli is worth a look too.

From Recco get back on the highway to bypass Genova, I'm from there but, unless you have time for a visit, head straight west. In another 180Km (111 Miles) by highway, you 'll be in France.

Keep on the coast road to get to Monaco, I live nearby so, if you wish, let me know when you plan to be here by personal message or email.

From Monaco to Barcellona there are tons of places tosee and be, but that is almost another trip
I don't need money for the turbo, anymore... and I still have a home :D
